Windows 10: I have 2 usb 2.0 ports and 1 usb 3.0 port. Problem is all of them have a black plastic...

So, the title says it all. How can I tell the difference between the ports. The look identical. Ports are: 2 usb 2.0 ports, 1 usb 3.0 port.

When I insert any usb device into port no 2, both usb devices (on port no 1 and 2) will be not functioning.

I'm using a laptop, having 3 usb ports. 2 of them are side by side (let's call it no 1 and 2). another one is on the other side. my no 1 is always occupied with usb adapter for my wireless keyboard and mouse. but when i insert any usb device into port no
2, both usb devices (on port no 1 and 2) will be not functioning. so basically i can't use both usb ports in the same time, regardless types of devices used. how to fix this?

 

USB 2 port not working

I downloaded from hp and reinstalled the Intel chipset drivers, still the USB 2 port doesnt work. The board has the ethernet, USB 2 & 3 ports, and a SDHC port, all work except for the USB 2. I ordered a new board for $8, and will try that, but the solder
connections on the board to the USB 2 port looked fine. This problem initially happened about 2 months after I bought the computer and never went further with it because the 2 USB 3 ports have been able to handle all I need, but now I need another port.

The basic identification of USB ports can be done by the color of plastic tab inside the USB plug-in as below:

1. If color of plastic tab is Blue, then its USB 3.0

2. If color of plastic tab is Black, then its USB 2.0
