I have my Windows 11 laptop connected via ethernet cable, but it is discoverable. My windows 10 laptop is showing up on the network, but my windows 7 laptop is not. Both the windows10 and the Windows 7 is connected to the same wifi connection, yet only the windows 10 laptop shows up on my home network. I am not sure what else to try. I have just gone into the network and sharing center and all show they are discoverable and they are set for file and printer sharing. What else should I try? Thanks so much for your help.

    :)

  2. Network problem windows 7 to windows 10

    Hello Mike,

Account restriction is a possible cause of the issue you're experiencing with viewing your files from a different PC. It would be great if you can tell me more about your concern. Please answer the following questions:

    • When did the issue start?
    • Are you getting any error messages?
    • Are you experiencing the same issue when viewing the files from the Windows 7 PC?
    • Did you notice any system setting changes prior to the issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, I suggest performing the steps provided by Ashish Sondhi from this

    thread
. He provided steps on how to share files between Windows 7 and Windows 10.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

3 windows 7 computers can not network connect to a windows 10 computer but can to an 11.

My in home system is five computers connected to the net by a Comcast cable router. There

are three Windows 7 computers, one 10 and one 11 both with home. The 10 is newer,1945, than 1790.

The 3 Win 7 computers are Ethernet connected. The 10 and 11 computers are wifi only.

    When I try to connect through Network on Windows Explorer I get refused by the 10 computer with;

don't have access permission or can't find the 10. Win Explorer Network place shows the 10 icon so the 7 computer is aware of the 10 and knows it's hostname. I can map network drives on all three 7 computers to the 10 and share files with no issue.

Attempts to click on the 10 icon under Network always fail with an access permissions error. Again there is no problem connecting to the 11 by mapping or under Network.

The 10 and 100 can map network drives with no problem and connect from the Network icon in

    Explorer without issue.

I forget the specific error message but it is access permission related. I have the net sections of

public, private and all, all filled in and no password requirement. File sharing and Network discovery are allowed through the firewall. Sharing is enabled on the 3 7's, 10 & 11. I have credentials made for all three 7's on the windows 10 computers in the form of \\computername\disk\ and also tried \\comutername without any change. I enabled some services that were suggested many places on the net from hopefully valid sites.

A possible culprit. The 10 had touchpad issues so I tried to reinstall the OS from the method on

the computer. That hung after a few hours when 74% done after the second boot. I then had

7 put on from a flash drive. But I continued to use the same computer name. I was not sure how

the Microsoft account would play that or if the 10 system in general have issues with a second

load of the OS. SO I changed the computer name. I'm not sure if the OS internals deal with

the computer name I use or some other numbers to ID the 10 computer. The changed name

gets the gives the same errors as the other and connects to the 11 with no issue.

I have every way I could think of and net suggestion but nothing changes the can't access

error. I can't remember all the things I have tried but they seemed valid and ok to do. I did not

    do any registry changes.

What is wrong? I don't think it is hardware.

The 10 computer gets TPM non-recoverable errors in the TPM hardware but I'm not sure if they

are real or a configuration problem due to 10 being after the know TPM problem.

Also, there are warnings for DistributedCOM. The application-specific permissions settings to not grant Local Launc permission for the COM server applicaiton with CLSID Windows SecurityCenter.WSCBrokerManager. I think these are not related but not positive.

I have 3 different OS systems, 11, 10 ,7. I have a home network set up and I cannot get...

Win 7 and Win 10 on network

I have home network with separate modem, router, and WAP's. My Windows 7 computer does NOT list the Windows 10 computers on network computer list but the Windows 10 computers network list DO list the Windows 7 computer.

Turned off firewalls, gave permissions, shared drives. Nothing allows Win 7 computer to access the Win 10 computers.

    Any suggestions for a fix?
