Windows 10: I have a 1.0TB External Disk with very important files that is now showing as Unallocated...

I opened the disk today and it is no longer allowing me access to the files for some reason. All of the disk is unallocated as the picture shows sorry for the bad quality. This was my backup disk and contains a lot of pictures and videos that I really want to recover. I have not done anything with the driver since I found it like this just in case. Please help. External Hard Drive has Disappeared - Disk Management Shows Unallocated

So i have just been having a run of repeated UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION error messages.

I have been trying to run some diagnostics myself. Like the system file checker, which showed up nothing and checkdisk, which also came up clean for my windows drive. However, i've noticed that my external drive is not showing in file explorer and in disk
management it is not showing in the list of 'volumes' at the top of the window but is showing as Disk 1 'Unallocated' below.

I have no idea where to go from here. If someone could guide me from here on, i'd be really grateful.

Is it possible the drive is kaput?

Hello.

Recently I tried to access data on an old USB stick and IO tried to use Disk Management for it.

When I started Disk Management, it gave me an error message and asked to convert a disk to MBR (if I remember correctly).

I mistakenly assumed it was about the USB stick and I pressed yes.

The result is that one of my external hard disk drives became unallocated, and it shows 2 times in the disk management list.

I closed the Disk Management and checked the file explorer, but the disk was not there.

I reentered Disk Management and without doing anything, by itself unallocated the second external hard disk drive, split in two partitions, and the drive shows three times in the disk drive list!!!

Both drive encrypted with BitLocker, I have the password and the keys.

My PC is a Lenovo m93p.

I had lots of backups in those disks and I really don’t want to lose the data, please any advice is welcome.

Can I remove the BitLocker encryption and use a data recovery software to save my data?

Recover Unallocated Disk Space

I've looked for the details regards about your concern and kindly follow these basic steps

You can used the diskpart.

1. Open CMD (press the Windows key + R and type CMD then hit enter)

2. In CMD type: Diskpart and hit enter

3. In Diskpart type: list volume and hit enter

4. Type: select volume X (X being the drive letter of your unallocated external hard drive) then hit enter (you can find out which Drive letter is assigned by looking in Disk Management)

5. Type: "delete volume" and then hit Enter

6. Type: "list volume" and then hit enter (If the tool is not able to create a new volume, follow the steps below)

7. Type: "select volume X" and then hit Enter

8. Type: "delete volume" and then hit Enter

9.Type: "delete volume" override and then hit Enter

10. Open Disk Management and try to create a new volume on the unallocated drive and set the file system to get the unallocated hard disk repaired.
