  2. Windows 10, Occasional Error, No Hard Drive, after Hard Drive Replacement

    Hi,

System corruption can cause issues detecting your computer's hard drive. For us to properly investigate on your concern, we'd like to confirm the following information:

    • On which cases do you receive the startup error?
    • Aside from replacing the hard drive, have you made any significant changes to your device prior to this happening?
    • Have you tried plugging in the replaced hard drive to another computer to check if the same thing occurs?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

We will be waiting for your reply so we can move forward to resolving your query.

    Hard drive replacement

That's quite incorrect. The mechanical parts of a mechanical hard drive do not slow down with age and eventually stop working. And while it's true that the cells of a solid state drive eventually lose their ability to retain data, you will have replaced
the computer long before that begins to be a problem.

Replacing the hard drive on a computer is simple. And you don't have to be an installation specialist to do it. Most retail hard drives include the software you'll need in the box - or on their website - along with detailed instructions to follow.

You simply make a backup of the old drive and restore it to the new drive. The type of backup you'll be making is called an image which is a copy of the entire hard drive compressed into a single file. All you do is restore the image to the new
hard drive and you've got exactly the same computer as you had before only on a different hard drive.

As long as you're thinking of the future - which actually starts now - here's a suggestion: Make an image backup of your hard drive every day. Third-party image backup software makes that quick and easy. Backing up can be totally automatic. If anything
goes wrong with your computer, just restore yesterday's backup and in a matter of minutes your computer goes back in time to yesterday. The only form of time travel that really works.

Computer Running Slow After Hard Drive Replacement

    Hi Aiden

When you replaced that hard drive, did you clean install Windows 10 on the new hard drive and if so, did you install a full set of device drivers after that?

Did you replace the hard drive with another hard drive or an SSD drive?

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)

    Choose the Processes tab

Is the HDD, RAM or CPU at a very high percentage, when you are not doing anything on your PC?

If so,click that column header, so that arrow faces down

What are the top 5 processes in the list?
