I have a file on an EXTERNAL Ethernet Backup that won't deleteI Tried several Suggested Techniques, NONE of which Worked, probably because the file was on an ETHERNET EXTERNAL DRIVE..So, in the Directory above the one that had this Recalcitrant file, I created a Temporary Directory TEMPThen copied ALL the Files in the Directory with the file that would not delete, EXCEPT the One that would not Delete, into the TEMP DirectoryMade sure all the files I wanted were CopiedDeleted the Directory with the Obstinate FileRenamed the TEMP Directory back to what I wanted it to beDONE

Deleted file restore software.

The stupid backup software has 4 options. Full, Differential, Incremental and don't remember the other. The help said almost the same for Diff and Incre. The first time it runs it will anyway do a full backup. So I chose Diff. So it did a full backup. I confirmed the files are sitting on my server. Then when I removed the 160 drive, it thought the drive is no longer available or files are deleted at source so it deleted. Bad thing is I left the software running.

 

How do I delete registry files?

type in regedit in the search box and press enter. Then from here on, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING UNLESS U KNOW WHAT UR DOING!! Go to Hkey_Local_Machine > Software > Then a list of program registry keys will pop up, delete anything that is uninstalled. Make sure u backup the keys unless something goes wrong. To backup, you do: Select a group of keys on the left pane > Right click > Export > name it "whatever.reg" > save it. To import the backup, click the reg file and click "merge"

 

Software to monitor a folder, backup, then delete?

Is there such a software that will allow the monitoring of a folder to not only backup, but also delete the data? For example, if I was to have a netbook, and it has the built-in card adapter for my camera, I can just copy all the files over to the netbook in a specific folder (ie, ::Temp Pictures), then the next time it connects to the internet/network it will search the folder for any new files, copy them over to my main PC, then delete the Temp Pictures data?

I've been looking into doing this, googling and whatnot, and it seems like there are a LOT of options for monitoring folders for updates, new data, copying, etc, but I haven't quite found one that allows you to delete after copying.
