I've seen a few posts having the same issue as me; however, the solutions offered don't work for me. I have tried the HP Command Centre, and this does indeed have a 'Focus Mode', which darkens all background windows. This is a separate feature to that which I'm experiencing; I can turn it on and off and see the difference it totally blackens the background, but when I turn it off, my laptop continues to dim not the same feature all background and inactive windows. I've tried attaching screenshots, but they are failing to upload...I've gone through all my settings and cannot find an option

    :)

  2. Secure boot isn't turning on in HP laptop (windows 11)

    Hello Mohd_357,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand the frustration you’re facing with Secure Boot on your HP laptop. Let’s troubleshoot this issue step by step:

    1. Load HP Factory Default Keys:
      • Go into the BIOS settings.
      • Navigate to System Configuration > Boot Options.
      • Look for an option to Load HP Factory Default Keys. If available, select it.
      • Check if Secure Boot becomes available after doing this.
    2. Disable Fast Startup:
      • Boot into your operating system (Windows 11).
      • Open Settings.
      • Go to Updates & Security > Recovery.
      • Click Restart Now under “Advanced startup.”
      • Wait for your PC to boot into the system recovery menu.
      • Select Troubleshoot and then choose Advanced options.
      • Finally, select UEFI Firmware Settings.
    3. Check BIOS Mode:
      • Ensure that your Windows 11 installation is in UEFI mode, not legacy mode.
      • If your notebook’s BIOS mode is set to legacy, you won’t be able to enable Secure Boot. You may need to reinstall Windows 11 from an EFI boot source.
    4. Reset BIOS settings to Default:
      • Reset BIOS settings may restore secure boot settings to normal factory state.

    Regarding TPM 2.0:

    • Your PC may not have TPM (Trusted Platform Module) support, which is required for Windows 11.
    • Additionally, Windows 11 requires an Intel 8th gen core processor or newer.

I hope it can solve your problem.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Best Regards,

  3. How to stop the screen from dimming?

    Dear Cynthia_Moore,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

I understand the frustration you're experiencing with the unexpected screen dimming on your MSI laptop running Windows 11. Based on your detailed description, it appears that the issue may stem from settings or features designed to conserve power or enhance user experience.

Windows 11 includes a limited number of built-in options that could affect screen brightness. Below, I've outlined troubleshooting steps categorized into both Windows built-in and third-party considerations:

    Windows Built-in Options:

    1. Disable Dynamic Lock: Dynamic Lock may be causing the screen to dim based on your movement.
      • Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
      • Scroll down to Dynamic lock and uncheck "Allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you're away."
    2. Disable HDR: Even if you're not familiar with HDR, it's worth checking its status.
      • Go to Settings > System > Display.
      • Look for an option labeled HDR. If enabled, try turning it off to see if it resolves the issue.

    3. Adjust Adaptive Brightness (if available): This setting can sometimes affect screen brightness.
      • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings.
      • Click on "Change advanced power settings" and navigate to Display settings. Ensure "Enable adaptive brightness" is turned off.
    Manufacturer-Specific Programs and Settings:

    • Check for Display Driver Updates: Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date by visiting the MSI website and downloading the latest driver for your specific laptop model. If already updated, consider reverting to a previous driver version to test for persistent issues.
    • Review Manufacturer-Specific Settings: Utilize MSI software such as Dragon Center or MSI True Color to inspect for any power-saving or display-related settings that may be influencing screen brightness.
    • Update BIOS and Firmware: Update your laptop's BIOS or firmware through the MSI support website, as newer versions can often resolve hardware-related issues.
    • Adjust Intel Graphics Command Center Settings (if applicable): Open the Intel Graphics Command Center from the Microsoft Store and navigate to System tab > Power tab > Turn off Display Power Saving.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to contact MSI support directly for specialized assistance, given their expertise with the hardware and Windows 11 compatibility.

I hope these steps will help in resolving the screen dimming problem. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you require further assistance.

    HP Laptop Boot Loop

I am encountering a boot loop problem with my HP laptop. Upon startup, it shows the HP logo and loading dots for about 11 seconds, then goes to a blank screen for approximately a minute before automatically restarting. The power button does not turn off during this cycle.

    Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

    • Tried hard reset and accessing BIOS/UEFI settings.
    • Unable to boot into Safe Mode or recovery environment.
please see here the recorded video demonstrating the boot loop behavior for reference.

Any advice, troubleshooting steps, or insights into what might be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.
