I have a mini screen built into my xps420 and it says it runs Microsoft window slideshow and I was wondering how to install new apps on it.

Slideshow screen saver not working in Windows 10

We understand the concern as you are having difficulties in setting the Slideshow for the desktop background. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Windows 10 Version and Build currently installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?
  

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps and then set the background.

1. Press Windows + R key to open
   Run command.
   
2. Type Control Panel and click
   OK.
   
3. Select Power Option. Click on
   Change plan settings.
   
4. Click on Advance power settings. Expand
   Desktop Background Settings.
   
5. Expand Slideshow and change
   pause to available
   
6. Click on Save and
   Exit.
   
7. Press Windows + I key to open
   Settings.
   
8. Click on Personalization. Click on
   Lock screen.
   
9. Under
   Background make sure it is set to Slideshow.

Windows 10 LockScreen (IOT) slideshow - Spotlight

Lock screen can be set to slideshow with the help of the steps below on every Windows normal version, you can try the same steps on your Windows 10 (IOT).

1. To change the lock screen to slideshow, you can go to
   Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
   
2. From the Background drop down option, select
   Slideshow.
   
3. Click on Add a folder and select the image folder you have.
   

To change the Slide time to 6 seconds, you can make the changes from the registry.

1. Open registry navigate to
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen
   
2. Right click on the Right pane and create a new
   Dword(32-bit) Value key.
   
3. Name it SlideshowDuration Double click set the value to 6000 which is 6 seconds.
