I have a monitor display issue that started last October 15, the day I got an automated...

As of October 15, 2018 - the native resolution on my display no longer fits on the screen. There was an automated 1803 update that day. There were other issues as well, but those seem to be resolved. The monitor works fine an an older machine that has not been updated for the last year.

This is an HP PC and they (HP) are telling me that I need to reset the operating system to fix this problem since reinstalling the monitor, replacing the cable and updating the driver did not fix the problem.

Reseting the operating system is pretty painful for me - I have a lot of software on this box and don't want to go through resintalling all of it unless I'm really, really sure it is going to fix this issue.

So, I'm looking for other options and/or confirmation that this issue will be resolved with a reset of the opsys.

    Thanks!

    Laura

  2. MS Office and Skype scaling issue with display monitors

    Hi J,

The scaling issues with your display monitor can be caused by an outdated operating system. To further isolate the concern, we suggest that you check for the latest update for Windows by following these steps:

    • Click on Start or the Windows Logo on your taskbar.
    • Select Settings or the gear icon and click Updates & security.
    • Click on Check for updates.

If any updates are found, install it and wait for Windows to complete the update and then restart the device.

Let us know the result of your troubleshooting.

    4870x2 won't display at 1680x1050 at all!

OK. Now I know what ur problem is. Step by step:
    1. Go to Catalyst Control Center
    2. Click on the word "Graphic" right on top left corner. It will display drop down menu
    3. Click on Display monitor and will see the list of monitor at near bottom
    4. Right Click the monitor and select "Configure". It will show up the window
    5. There will be 3 option to select. Select the middle one and then click on the tab which show the bar with 15%.
    6. Drag the bar to max, and the screen will stretch to the native resolution 1680x1050.
    7. Also click the tab with showing RGB drop down list and select the last one (it will change to image quality for pc).
    That's it. Good Luck.

    monitor display size

    Hi Kathy,

This issue with monitor display can be caused by screen resolution problems.

As an initial troubleshooting step, try changing the screen resolution by following the steps below:

    • Right-click on the desktop screen.
    • Select Display settings.
    • Click Display.
    • Under Resolution, click on the drop-down menu and change the screen resolution.

Note: You can select the most recommended resolution (1920 x 1080) if applicable and see if the issue will persist.

Let us know if you have any other concerns.
