Windows 10: I have a problem with high data usage on WIFI

I have a recent problem with high mobile data usage in my windows 10 laptop. I had this problem earlier but I fixed with YouTube tutorials. I did everything: Background intelligent data transferBITS disable, windows update disable, microsoft update disable, metered connect on. I also stopped the BITS permanently.But the metered connection is keep getting off everytime. After everything, data is still consuming. 1.5 Gigabyte data ends in the morning. ** Help**

Windows 10 high system data usage

We appreciate the additional information. Windows update is one of the possible cause why the system data usage is high. If you prefer to disable automatic updates to avoid high data usage, follow the steps below:

• Type gpedit.msc in the search bar, then press Enter
  to open Local Group Policy Editor.
  
• Browse the following path:
  
  • Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update
    
• Locate Configure Automatic Updates, then double-click it.
  
• Check the Enabled option to enable the policy.
  
• Under Options, change it to option 2 (Notify for download and notify for install).
  
• Click Apply, then OK.

High System data usage

Hi, the common suggestion for System data usage being high is related to Windows Update. However your data usage is so high that seems improbable. Given that, what does your Windows Update History show you? Please provide a screenshot. That said, it also seems improbably this is the cause- your build number is the same as mine. You can get a more complete picture- and perhaps convince yourself whether it is app-related usage or not from this:

You can break down current System usage with Process Explorer.

Note the column I've added on the right- data from the internet. You can monitor disk and internet activity.

 

High System data usage

I showed a screenshot of Process Explorer with a simple view- where you can see the internet and disk usage of processes comprising 'System'. Simply copy that view. That's all I was suggesting to monitor current usage. Of course, if the high usage isn't currently occurring, you won't discover more using Process Explorer. If you have a way to do that you prefer, feel free to use that. If there's nothing currently happening, you can hope someone suggests a way to discover more about your historical usage. Considering your internet speed- at 64Mb/s for 742Gb that's about 1214000s or some 34 hours at 100% use of your internet connection. Presently there's no evidence of 3rd party programs or apps being related to this high usage, so suggestion related to startups don't appear to be obviously relevant, and clearly if you're not CURRENTLY experiencing high usage, there's nothing to experiment with.
