Windows 10: i have a problem with pc recognizing flash drive

earlier, i had no problem connecting and opening files within flash drive. but a few minutes ago, somehow, i cannot open flash drive. this particular drive has portableapps program saved and i use that to run portable programs. im thinking maybe its the usb connection hub that is the culprit..because when i plug in flash into adaptor thats connected to tablet, i can open files..

any hints?

oh and now i see my external drive is not showing either! what?? i need it to open..what is causing the problem?

Unrecognized USB device

I have Windows 10. Over the past 2 weeks I have experienced sporadic problems when plugging in USB flash drives. Message states that device is not recognized. I have unplugged and then reinserted flash drive and found it recognized. However, today
despite repeated attempts, none of my flash drives have been recognized. Please help!

What was the outcome? I have the same problem but the update doesn't recognize that I have a flash drive connected with plenty of space. No option is offered to use that space, even though the drive is clearly recognized by the OS.

 

I'm wondering if the option to allow your system to turn off your USB ports to save power is enabled.

 

greetings. i have no idea.. few seconds ago, i restarted pc, then plugged in my wd my passport external..and it was able to open. except the flas drive isnt opening..trying to scan and fix it. see here, tried opening flash drive but got error





ok...so i restarted again, and plugged in the flash drive and external hdd..iam able to access them! always a reboot clears up problems. so i guess disaster averted. would of been a huge huge event. as i have over 6-700GB of stuff saved on both devices
