    I have a problem with sound/audio that's driving me crazy.


    Hey everyone. Just a quick call out for help. Here's the situation.

    Few days ago I purchased a pre owned, Dell, Windows 10 Pro laptop. It works fine...except for the audio. I have had audio problems in the past, but nothing like this. The audio sounds okay for the most part, but every 5 to 10 seconds the sound drags for half a second, so it makes listening to music in particular awful. It doesn't effect video playback, the picture is always fine. It's just always sound. Speakers and headphones, it messes with both.

    I'm not the most tech savvy person in the world, but I have overcome problems like this before in the past, but nothing is working. I've tried removing sound enhancers and checking for updates, etc, but I am literally getting nowhere.

    Any help or advice would be very appreciated.

  2. Sound problem

    Hi,

    We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

    • Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
    • Click Hardware and Sound.
    • Select Playing Audio under Sound.
    • Follow the steps that will be provided.
    If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.

    Hi Hubert,

    Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    We understand the inconvenience caused and we appreciate you for trying the troubleshooting steps..

    This issue might occur if some of the sound settings got corrupted.

    I suggest you to try running audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:


    • Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
      Troubleshooting.

    • Select Hardware and Sound.

    • Select Playing Audio under
      Sound
      and follow the on screen.

    Audio Problems

    Hi there SimonWildZX, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

    May I suggest to completely uninstall all Audio drivers listed in the Device manager including the headset. Please make sure to completely remove.

    Here is how to do it.

    Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

    Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

    Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio devices. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

    Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

    Repeat the steps in all the Audio devices listed.

    Then reboot. then test the headset again.
