Windows 10: I have a red "x" over my sound icon in taskbar and then says no output device is installed...

No Sound No Output device

Running 19042.746 on a ASUS 2n1 computer. I believe this started 1 or 2 updates ago. I have no sound from the speakers or earphones with "the hardware device is not connected to the computer Code45" and "No output devices found" no pull down for choice. Device manager does not show a sound category unless I show hidden devices. Speaker icon in task tray shows a red "X". SFC /Scannow found some errors, ran 2x, no more errors. problem still exists.
Appreciate any suggestions.

 

No Audio Output Device is Installed

Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

2. Select "playback devices".

3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

5. Save the changes.

Original Title - Code 45 Audio Output

I have a lenovo yoga pro 3. My computer's sound has had a red x by it on and off for the last month saying that no audio output device is installed. When I click on playback devices, it says that no audio devices are installed. When I try to troubleshoot,
it says to restart the computer. When I restart, the problem is not resolved.

I opened the device manager to check the status on the sound. In order to view both audio inputs and outputs and sound, video and game controllers, I have to view hidden devices. I tried to update the device driver software as well as searched for additional
software. These options say that everything is up to date. My computer currently lists Conexant Smart Audio HD as the potential device. When I check the properties on this, it lists code 45. I am supposed to reconnect the device to the computer, but I have
no clue how to do this. I tried to add legacy hardware and tried updating again, but nothing works. Every time it says that there is no driver function associated with adding anything.

When I tried going to the lenovo site, the realtek did not work properly and the other download option for a sound driver would not download. I looked up my update history and it doesn't seem like anything would have affected the sound. Therefore I do not
believe that a recovery would not be that beneficial.

What should I do now?
