Windows 10: I have a touch pad. however, just today my cursor disappears as soon as I try to close a window

I have a touchpad PC, which works. However, my cursor pointer disappeared last night when I tried to close a window. Seems to disappear when I go off desk top?? Any suggestions

Touch pad Cursor disappears while using browsers

The touch pad cursor disappears while using the new Edge, the old edge and Chrome browsers. It used to be periodically, now it is interfering with the usefulness of the Surface. Which, I must say is not even close to the utility of the Droid based tablets
I have used.

I have to reboot for the cursor to reappear on the browser windows. It does seam to work on non-browser windows and the windows operation windows and desktop.

When I reboot my laptop the cursor and touch pad work for the login screen. My cursor arrow disappears and the touch pad stops working when Windows 10 boots up. The cursor arrow appears and works just fine when I plug in a usb mouse. How can I get the
cursor arrow to appear and the touch pad to work when Windows 10 starts?
