Windows 10: I have a USB device that may be set to wake on magic packet. How do I know for certain?

I have windows 11 64 bit home edition. I have a USB adapter plugged into an ethernet cable. device manager shows it is an ASIX family adapter, and there is not a power management tab. There is "wake on magic packet" option under advanced, and "wake on pattern match" under advanced enabled.I have previously disabled some system maintenance options which seemed to interfere with my system turning on my screen when it was not in use, and this USB device was unplugged. However, when this device is plugged in, this device may turn on the system. I am not certain.I have tried commands from this site

wake on lan right after shutdown (due to magic packets while awake)

If while computer is awake, and wake on magic packet under device manager for intel i219-v is "Enabled", and then I send magic packet requests to wake computer, and then set it to "Disabled", then after shutdown the computer doesn't restart (we already knew this). If while computer is awake, wake on magic packet under device manager for intel i219-v is "Disabled", and then I send magic packet requests to wake computer, and then set it to "Enabled" before shutdown, the computer doesn't restart after shutdown! Interestingly if while computer is awake, and wake on magic packet under device manager for intel i219-v is "Enabled", and then I send magic packet requests to wake computer, and then set it to "Disabled", save, then set it to "Enabled" again before shutdown, the computer still restarts. So basically the magic packet request gets "queued" whenever it is received while computer is awake ONLY IF the wake on magic packet setting is enabled at the time the magic packet is received (again indicating this is likely a network card related function, because it has to do with the properties of the network card under device manager). Does anyone know how I can make sure my pc doesn't receive a magic packet, when it's awake?log.txt

 

Computer wakes on LAN, even if Magic Packet is enabled

Hello!

I'm using Asrock Z87 Pro motherboard with onboard Intel I217-V network adapter. For few years I was running Windows 8, and had configured computer to wake only on Magic Packet being received on port 9 - everything worked flawless.

Recently I made fresh installation of Windows 10, installed all manufacturer's drivers, configured network adapter as before (wake on LAN only on Magic Packet), also disabled all other wake timers - everything is set as before. But now computer keeps waking up at random moments around 30min to 1hour after being put to sleep and "powercfg -lastwake" shows that it's the ethernet module that wakes computer up, although it's set to wake from only Magic Packet. What the hell? *Sad

I also checked my router log files - only magic packets being sent are from my phone when I genuienly needed to wake up PC. Also I don't want to disable WOL functionality altogether, because it's very convenient to remotely wake and access home PC.

Could someone suggest what to try next?

 

Possible to wake PC w/o Magic Packet...w/o unwanted wakes?


Setting up a Win 10 PC for shares, videos, which will be used lightly. I would like to have it sleep, and not have to do a separate operation to wake it with a magic packet before accessing.

Is this possible?

Any suggestions appreciated.
