Iomega Releases Home Media Hard Drive, Brings Cost-Effective Features to Your Home

Starting at just $159.99, the Home Media Network Hard Drive is available as a 500GB or a 1TB single-drive device. Consumers with multiple computers can use the Home Media Network Hard Drive to centralize their computer storage as well as access files on everything from a laptop to a big screen TV to a Microsoft Xbox 360 or a Sony PlayStation 3. Sharing and streaming multimedia files to a home entertainment system creates lots of enjoyment for the whole family, and the 1TB Home Media Network Hard Drive can store plenty of entertainment - more than 4 million photos, 18,500 hours of music, or 1500 hours of video.

Key Features of the Home Media Network Hard Drive

The new Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive operates EMC's LifeLine Home software, a custom Linux operating system and application suite that can be set up in three easy steps: simply plug the Home Network Hard Drive into a router, power on, and install the software CD. A friendly user interface screen makes it easy to access files on all networked computers, as well as control which family members have access to certain folders.

The Home Media Network Hard Drive supports iTunes and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified devices, which makes the Home Media Network Drive a robust media server that can save, store and stream digital content not only to laptops and desktop computers but popular game consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, as well as digital picture frames, networked TVs and any other compatible device on a home network.

Fast network performance is achieved through a Gigabit Ethernet connection that plugs directly into a router. LenovoEMC Rebrands Iomega Products and Programs Worldwide

LenovoEMC Ltd, a joint venture between industry-leaders Lenovo and EMC that includes the Iomega network storage product business, today announced the rebranding of Iomega products and programs worldwide, emphasizing the identity of this transformative joint venture and laying the foundation for new product and partnership announcements, beginning with a new Acronis agreement to provide PC backup software for select Lenovo network storage products.

Effective immediately, the former Iomega-branded network storage products are available worldwide with new branding that reflects the LenovoEMC business while continuing to utilize the Iomega mark on entry-level consumer network storage products. Data Backup for the PC Plus World
LenovoEMC today also announced an agreement with Acronis to provide True Image 2013 Lite PC backup software with select Lenovo network storage products. Acronis True Image 2013 provides automatic and continuous file backup protection and restore for Windows PCs.

Effective immediately, the Lenovo EMC px Series products now include three licenses for ATI Lite per product. In certain geographies, Lenovo Iomega ix Series products will include a single license. Acronis has also made available special pricing for additional licenses and upgrades for Lenovo network storage customers.

Iomega IX2-200 NAS drive not available in Windows 10 Explorer

Hello Stefan,

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, Windows 10 says the drive requires the obsolete SMB1 protocol and as Iomega does not exist anymore, getting an upgrade to SMB2 is not possible.

I tried mapping the drive, but same result.
