Windows 10: I have an issue with my File Explorer

Hello, I am currently using an ASUS Vivobook S510U, with specs of i5-8th gen, 150MX, 256gb ssd, 1tb hdd and 8gb ram(expanded).

In my harddisk, there is a file where I keep all my downloaded movies which is about 295 gb, when there is 565gb out of 931gb of storage free in my harddisk.

There was no issue at all before, it started about one or two days ago. Whenever I open the file, the computer becomes laggy, it lags all the way when I scroll down the file and all the icons in the desktop and the task bar start flashing continuously. The lag does not affect anything other than that certain file but the icons issue does not stop as long as the file is still open.

I don't think it is because of the file is too big as it has been >290gb for a long time but the issues only occur recently. Plus, obviously, the specs of my computer make it completely capable of storing 295gb of movies in a file without causing any lagging issue, am I right?

If anyone happens to know the reasons or solutions to these issues, please kindly reply me.

File explorer

Hi Mick,

I am sorry to know that the File Explorer is not working on the Taskbar.

I suggest you to right-click on it to unpin it from the task bar.

Then search for File Explorer in Search. Then right-click on it to Pin it to Taskbar.

If the issue persists, try the steps below.

• 
  Type CMD in Search. Right click on it to run as an administrator.
  
• 
  Type the following 4 commands at the Command prompt:
  

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

powershell

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

• 
  Close the CMD window.
  
• 
  Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.

"This file can't be previewed" problem in explorer

• Were there any changes on your PC before this happened like software or updates installed?

For initial troubleshooting, we suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

• Open File Explorer.
• Access this link
  
  C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
• Delete all the files.
• After deleting the files kindly try and see if there's a thumbnail preview of your files.

Cannot launch File Explorer from taskbar in Windows 10

• First unpin the File Explorer from the task bar.
• Press Windows + E.
• And right click on File Explorer in the taskbar.
• And Pin the File Explorer to Taskbar and Check if it helps.
