USB HDD driver??

Running HP ENVY 750-514 with Windows 10. Internal drive bays are full so am trying to use an external SATA 200Mb Samsung SP2004C drive connected through a USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Adapter (drive has some old data I want to transfer). The drive is recognized
in ControlPanelDevices but doesn't list in Windows Explorer, therefore it's not accessible.

Device properties list the device as SAMSUNG SP2004C SCSI Disk Device, and list driver details as using DISK.SYS, EhStorClass.sys, or partmgr.sys. But SCSI?? It's a SATA device??

Another drive connected through USB is recognized as Seagate FreeAgent USB Device, and list driver details as using the same three files.

help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.

 

I have trouble on my USB flash disk. The logo in the taskbar shows up, but it doesn't appear in the "This PC" page, and the disk management page shows "No media" for the USB drive.

Did you already try using diskpart on command prompt and check if the USB flash drive will appear there? Launch diskpart by opening first an elevated command prompt by clicking on the search bar then type cmd then right click the search result then click run as administrator. Once launched, type diskpart on command prompt. After that, type list disk then press enter. Doing that will list the available disk on your computer ( including the USB drives ). Check on the list if the USB flash drive will appear and has free space. Kindly post here the result of diskpart so I can provide the next steps.
