USB SSD keeps unmounting when putting laptop to sleep

Sorry, had to unmark the answer.

This morning I woke up my laptop and the USB SSD was not mounted.

When this happens, I have to remove & unplug the SSD and then reconnect it again for it to mount.

It appears that none of your suggestions, although all good, work to fix this.

Is it possible to put a new SSD into my work laptop and then put the old SSD back in when I need to return it to work?

My personal laptop is, in a word is f**ked.

I was planning on using my work laptop until I can get a new one, it's an HP Elitebook 830 G5. However the work laptop has limited functionality due to admin rights being restricted so I can't install anything I would use normally.

If I put my SSD M.2 into the laptop and install Windows 10 will I have any issues when I put the work M.2 with Windows Enterprise back in?

USB SSD keeps unmounting when putting laptop to sleep

I have a Samsung SSD T3 connected via USB (3.0) to my Win10 Dell XPS 15.

Whenever the laptop goes to sleep the SSD unmounts and is not available when I wake the laptop up again.

What is required to keep the USB SSD Drive always mounted?
