How can I move files from my pc internal SDD to my internal HDD. The SDD is nearly full and. I need to free up space. Info that I have found online always assumes that I want to transfer to an external drive. I have a HP desktop running windows 11.

SDD and a HDD windows 10

I have Windows 10 installed on a 525gb SDD. I have a 1tb HDD that I'm using for my data. I've been reading a lot of conflicting tweaks to use on the SDD. Help!

1. Should I eliminate the swap on the SDD? I do a have a windows managed swap file on the HDD.

2. Should I turn off indexing on the SDD?

3. Should I turn off system restore on the SDD?

Most of the articles I've been reading have been a couple of years old. I know that the current SDDs are better but do these same tweaks apply now?

Any info and suggestions are appreciated.

How to Make New SDD Boot Drive

I'm looking for some help after installing a new SDD. I have a Lenovo S340. It originally had an HDD, and I installed a new SDD to replace it.

I went through the process of doing a clean install of Windows 11 -- I thought properly on the SDD.

It booted up and operated like a champ. I copied over a few files from the old HHD before removing it. I then removed the HDD, starting the machine up, and it did not see the SDD as a boot device.

I reinstalled the HDD - booted up just fine. When I go into the BIOS, I can see the SDD on the information page. NVME SDD. When I move over to the boot section, I do not see it as a device I can change the boot order to.

I will add that the C: drive is the sdd and when I view it in explorer, it has the window symbol next to it and named local drive The old drive is D: and named windows.

System is operating well - I'm just wanting to make sure I am booting off the SDD, and I want to remove the HDD, as I believe it is on its way out. Many thanks!
