Windows 10: I have Data2.cab errors when installing MS Flight Simulator

Team: i have been trying to install MS Flight Sim Premium Deluxe on my PC. I also tried its installation on an external drive to fix a reoccuring problem of a “Data2.cab” failure on the first 3 disks. Is this a disk issue now?

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

Refer the steps below to uninstall.

• Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
• Open programs and features.
• In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
  Remove.

Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



Reinstall the Flight Simulator.

Microsoft flight simulator 2020 dvd instal resume

I am Jaspreet Singh an independent advisor.

Unfortunately if the disc based installation is interrupted you cannot resume it and the only way will be to clear the previous installation and retry again.

Here are some methods to clear the interrupted install curtsy of fellow advisor Par_0511

Method 1:

- Click Start Menu then Settings

- Click Programs and Features

- Find the software that is linked to data2.cab (look if there is any Flight Simulator)

- Click Uninstall/Change.

- The uninstaller will pop up and give you instructions and then click Ok and Next until it is complete

- Restart your computer.

- Reinstall the software and run the installer again

Method 2:

- Click Start

- Type regedit and then select/click it and grant permission in order to proceed

- Click HKEY LOCAL MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Uninstall

- Find the data2.cab software from the list you wish to uninstall (look if there is any Flight Simulator)

- Select the software and double click the UninstallString icon on the right side

- Copy the highlighted text

- Exit and go to the search field and then paste the data

- Select Okay in order to uninstall the program

- Try to reinstall MFS 2020

If there is not any such instance for both the method you can simply delete the files as normal delete operation and reboot the system and try the installation again.

 

MS Flight Simulator & Windows 10

Since installing Windows 10, I cannot run MS Flight Simulator 2004. I have taken the following steps with no results. The application simply will not load.

I have:

Tried running the program as an Administrator

Used the command line to open my Admin account

Tried running the program in Compatibility Mode

Tried running the Compatibility Mode Troubleshooter

Uninstalled and re-installed the program

Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
