Windows 10: I have deleted my USB Virtual ports usb0001, usb0002 by accident.

While trying to troubleshoot a usb hardware issue, I mistakenly uninstalled or deleted all my Virtual usb ports, i.e. usb001, usb002 etc. Now when I go to install a printer, the drop down list for ports do not have a usb option anymore, so I can not select a usb port. How can I add or install my Virtual usb printer ports again?

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

No USB Virtual Printer Ports

When manually installing a printer, I cannot select a USB port because none exist. How do I get the virtual printer ports for USB001, USB002, USB003, etc. to appear in the list?

I have read through many replies and I do NOT need to know how to manually add a printer. Creating a new port does nothing but give a name to something that doesn't exist.

Also, I do NOT need information on updating my driver because I am using the generic/text only driver within Windows.

If the ports don't appear the the port list, what do I have to do so that they will?
