I've pretty much given up on my freezing problem, but when it freezes it seem to be frozen for the same amount of time.

My guess there is a registry entry that regulates how long to wait to see if it unfreezes itself. Is it possible to set that value lower so the freezes are shorter?

Win 10 Free installed over Win 7
    16 gig ram
    AMD FX8350
    Nvidea GTX 680

  2. i have a canara bank debit card can i use it for purchasing games in windows store

I'm also facing the same problem. Its processing everything fine on the bank's site and return back to our store for purchasing the app. But unfortunately our store says your card is expired. My card is not expired actually.

Are you sure that your card details on your account are current? Make sure that this isn't a problem with the card company instead.

    1) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    6) Run HDTune: http://www.hdtune.com/to check the drive health,
scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
    run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following
    the health,
    the error scan,
    the benchmark incl. following
    transfer rate,
    access time,
    burst rate,
    cpu usage.

You probably need to do a clean install of W10. Every single problem I've seen with a system that was upgraded from W7 has been solved with a clean install. Every single problem. For some reason the W7 upgrades just had a lot of baggage.

  6. I'm working on Zbook's first.

I don't want to lose my "free" win 10 by redoing it. Plus I'm running a 2000 version of Office, and a couple of programs I'm not sure I have "re download" rights.

I have freezing for a specific period. Can I adjust it shorter?

The tests that were done so far indicate that the operating system, and drive are okay.
Please provide information on the hangs or freezes.
    When do they occur?
    What makes them better?
    What makes them worse?
What makes them occur more frequently?
What makes them occur less frequently?
What is impacted and what is not impacted when there is a freeze?
    a) is it only a browser?
    b) is it only the audio?
    c) is it audio and video?
    d) is it all browsers?
    e) does it impact java programs?
    f) is it only impacting programs using flash?
    g) does it impact microsoft office?
    h) does it happen when the computer is idle or only when in use?
Please provide as much information as possible on what is and what is not impacted?
What if anything can shorten the freeze or make it not freeze?
When you open task manager with control + alt + delete do you see all low percentages or do you see any high percentages?

Sometimes there are applications or services that have problems when used together in the computer environment.
Placing a computer in clean boot turns off all non-Microsoft services.
So on boot only Microsoft services are on.
When a service is needed it is turned on.

Place the computer in clean boot and evaluate the performance:
This the method using administrative command prompt:
    Type these commands:

    1) msconfig (in the pop up system configuration > move the dot from normal startup to selective startup > uncheck load startup items > click service tab > in left lower corner check hide all Microsoft services > in the lower right side click disable all > click apply or ok > do not reboot)

    2) taskmgr (in the pop up task manager > click on the start up tab > click on status so that the column sorts with enable rising to the top > right click on each row with enable and change to disable)

How to perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

    3) shutdown /r (you will reboot the computer so that it is in clean boot)

Evaluate the performance on the computer in clean boot during typical use.
Are the boots faster or slower?
Are the shutdowns faster or slower?
How has the audio and video performance changed? Is it better, worse, or the same?
How have the freezes or hangs changed? Are they better, worse, or the same?
Continue using clean boot indefinitely to monitor performance.

This is a bsod mini dump and log collector:
BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums
It will collect msinfo32, dxdiag, event logs etc. Please post a zip into the thread to help the troubleshooting.

You won't lose the W10, but you may have problems getting back some of your other programs. Good luck.

  10. BTW, it freezes on all browsers - I use Sea Monkey (a derivative of Mozilla). I freeze on Chrome, Mozilla regular, and I.E. Not sure about Edge.

Also in "Private Browsing" it never freezes.

Please update the posted information on your computer to include information on PSU, cooler, case, keyboard, mouse, etc.
In post #6 please post the dm collector zip and report performance changes using clean boot over the next day.
Are you doing any over clocking?
When was the last time you reset the bios?

  12. It's home built Asrock Killer 990FX with an AMD 8350, 16 gigs Crucial cmx 4 gig x 4 - CMX8gx3m2a1333. Antec power supply. GTX 680 video card.

No over clocking. Only bios alteration was changing my SSD to boot as IDE.

Regarding MSCONFIG I won't get trapped in there finding myself to be unbootable, will I?

EDIT - I haven't had any freezes yet, but I downloaded the DM tool, and will use it as soon as I get a freeze.

I have freezing for a specific period. Can I adjust it shorter?

Msconfig is turning off non-Microsoft services on boot. So you should be able to turn on any non-Microsoft service when you need it rather than turning on so many items with the boot. It should reduce the task manager % numbers and if there are any conflicting non-Microsoft services it should become apparent with the changes from normal boot to clean boot. Many people end up using something between normal boot and clean boot, also called selective boot so they end up with the most effective boot for just the non-Microsoft services that are almost always used.

For the system specs please complete the section similar to this: https://www.tenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra
This way anyone viewing the thread can click on "my computer" and view all of the pertinent information. Also in addition to the line entries please indicate the age of the hardware and when it was last cleaned of dust.

Please download and install one of these temperature monitoring applications:

    Speecy, HW monitor, Speed fan:

Speccy - Free Download - Piriform: Speccy - System Information - Free Download

HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID: HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID

SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer: SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Please post information on temperatures of CPU and GPU when the system is in use.

The zip is easily posted and re-posted after a bsod or notable event. If there is information in the logs it will be automatically updated. So start with a baseline and then update after an event.

    And a temp file:
