Hi, I have just created a new Microsoft account for my laptop, then I signed out the window and tried to sign in again, the password of my new account was required. Unfortunately, I forgot my password and couldn’t sign in. I used to sign in with only password, not an account. I don’t know if I made a mistake when I did the new account settings so it requires to sign in with the account. Is it possible to sign in with my laptop’s password? Or is there any other way to sign into the window. I got unsettled as many things in my laptop and I need to work with it everyday. Please help to solve this

I reset my windows 10 laptop password. I forgot the new password and now I am locked out of my computer.

Kindly consider the following steps:

1. Go to the Microsoft account password reset page (https://account.live.com/password/reset) and sign in with the email address associated with your Microsoft account that the laptop is linked to.
   
2. Microsoft will ask to verify your identity. Choose to receive the verification code via email or phone number associated with the account.
   
3. Once you receive the verification code, enter it on the website to prove it's you.
   
4. You'll then be prompted to create a new password for your Microsoft account.
   
5. After resetting your Microsoft account password, restart your laptop and try signing in with the new password you just created

How can I create a new app password

To create a new app password,
this page says:

• Go to the
  Security basics page and sign in to your Microsoft account.
• Select More security options.
• Under App passwords, select Create a new app password. A new app password is generated and appears on your screen.

But I have found no 'App passwords' option/button in that page. Please help — how can I do this?

 

I cannot sign into a new account

1. Check your username and password: Make sure that you're entering your username and password correctly. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive. Also, your username for a local account might be different from your email address if that's what you're using to sign in on the browser.
   
2. Use the full username: If your computer is part of a domain, you might need to enter your full username in the format domain\username
   
3. Sign out of the current account: If another account is currently signed in, try signing out or restarting the computer before attempting to sign in to the new account.
   
4. Check the account type: Ensure that the account you created is a local account, not a Microsoft account. Local accounts use a username, not an email address, to sign in.
   
5. Reset your password: If you're unsure about your password, you can reset it. Press the Shift key while selecting Restart from the power options (located in the lower-right corner of the login screen). After your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC. Follow the steps to reset your PC, which will include creating a new password for your account.
