Windows 10: I have quit AVG and reverted to Windows Defender. I have done an Update but now it won't...

I have just quit AVG. I have reverted to Windows Defender. I did an update. Now it will not allow me to perform a scan.

Why won't Windows Defender not auto update anymore

I have have windows updates set to notify updates , I will install myself, because I want to make a system restore point before installing updates.

Because of this windows defender does not update automatically and I had to create a task for updating in the task scheduler, which I did but it does not work anymore since I re-installed windows.
What am I doing wrong?

Will Windows Defender interfere with AVG?

No, if you're using a Windows 10 compatible and updated AVG product and if it's correctly installed, it should not interfere with Windows Defender.

When in doubt I suggest to ask the provider of your AV and/or in their forum.
