I have several apps saved in the WindowsApps folder on my C: drive. I am wondering if it is...

My laptop is getting very low on space and there are several apps in the WindowsApps folder in my C drive I do not use and I do not believe them to be essential. These apps/programs includes Microsoft Office and it's connected programs and Skype. I use a separate program to write documents and other things and I have never used Skype and have no plans to. I went to uninstall them in Apps and Features in PC Settings but they do not show up there. Nor do they shows up in Programs and Features in the control panel or Programs and Apps folders in the start menu. Forced updates from Windows has whi

  2. deleting files and folders from C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    Good Day!!

I do apologize for these inconvenience.

I would suggest the fastest way to delete WindowsApps folder is to format the drive.

    See below steps:

    >> Open Settings.

    >> Click on Apps.

    >> Click on Apps & features.

    >> Under the "Apps & features" section, use the Filter by menu, and select the drive containing the "WindowsApps" folder.

    >> Select the app and click the Uninstall button.

    >> Click the Uninstall button again.

    Hope it will help.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you and Keep Safe.

  3. deleting files and folders from C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is Anthony.

I'm Independent Advisor and I'm happy to assist you.

I understand how difficult it is, when the device or app won't work in the way it should.

The WindowsApps folder is protected, and if you try to revert the changes, the folder will stay on the external drive, and you won't be able to delete it.

Listed below are step on how to uninstall apps on external drive:

    >> Open Settings.

    >> Click on Apps.

    >> Click on Apps & features.

    >> Under the "Apps & features" section, use the Filter by menu, and select the drive containing the "WindowsApps" folder.

    >> Select the app and click the Uninstall button.

    >> Click the Uninstall button again.

    Hope it will help.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you and Keep Safe.

I have several apps saved in the WindowsApps folder on my C: drive. I am wondering if it is...

WindowsApps folder says permissions are corrupted and need to be deleted, is this normal or critical?

According to your description, I suggest you try the following steps:

    1. Navigate to the location C:\Program Files.
    2. Right-click on the WindowsApps folder, and select Properties.
    3. Turn to Security tab and click on Advanced.
    4. Click on Change and then type Users in Enter the object name to select area.
    5. Click on OK, then click Apply > OK. You can also add the TrustedInstaller to the users list and check if it takes effect.

However, you might be still not able to access the files. The workaround is to go inside the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\, and repeat the same way with the Microsoft.WindowsStore* folders.
