Windows 10: I have the one drive picture folder issue but cannot find the missing c drive files anywhere.

I have the one drive picture folder issue but I cannot find where all my old pictures are! when I try and change the picures default from onedrive back to c drive pictures it says that that folder does not exist 'do you want to create it'. which makes it look like ALL my old photos and videos have disappeared! But surely they are still on the laptop somewhere?

My data folders (Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, etc) are on DRIVE E: not Drive C:

Let me start by saying the above information would have been very useful at the start. Let me see if I can recap your original issue first...

Before Windows 10 Upgrade:

Your computer was configured (before the Win10 upgrade) to used drive (E as your DEFAULT storage location for DOCUMENTS, PICTURES, MUSIC etc. I assume there were sub-folders for each.

After Windows 10 Upgrade:

After the upgrade, your DEFAULT storage locations were re-set to drive C:. This had the side affect of you seeing 'Documents' in the quick access list which did not point to your 'Documents' folder on drive E:.

What you wanted:

You wanted the 'Documents' and other data folders that showed up in the Quick Access list to point to your original files on drive E:. You also assumed that all new documents would be created in the Documents folder on drive E:.

Drive E: is your data drive because that is where you have space and you want to continue using that drive.

In the above description I used 'Documents' but that would apply to all of your 'data' folders such as Music, Video, Pictures etc.

If I have this right, please let me know.

 

Transferring files to another folder. Speed issue.

I run a 500GB WD Velociraptor as my C drive and I have a standard 7200rpm 500GB HDD as my storage (D drive). I'm only getting about 15mb/s right now transferring files/folders to another folder or transferring from C drive to D. Why is the WD HDD so slow? Am I missing something? *Confused

Apologize for the late reply.

Are you able to find other files and folders on Windows 10?

I suggest you to have a look for Windows 8.1 pictures in Windows.old folder.

Try the following steps:

• Press Windows + E keys to open Windows explorer
• Press C:\ Drive
• under C: drive look for Windows.old folder
• open users under Windows.old

Try the search for pictures in here.
