Discus and support I have tried every fix I could find on the internet to be able to change read only on files... in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I have the trial for McAfee and free Avast for anti-virus, neither of them have the folder control option or anything like that....     I have the trial for McAfee and free Avast for anti-virus, neither of them have the folder control option or anything like that.

    Programs not working

    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

    How do I change (Read Only) on Microsoft Word


    When I downloaded Windows 10 and used my Microsoft Word it was in (Read Only) and I tried looking up how to solve the problem including looking at properties on my document to uncheck read only, but it was already unchecked. I have tried all the steps suggested.

    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far? This is for us to avoid giving duplicate troubleshooting steps.
    • Does it happen to all Office app documents?
    • When did this start to happen? Were you able to access the documents before?

    thread that was found helpful in resolving similar issue.
