    I have trouble using system restore to an earlier point. I get the following error:


    'System restore did complete successfully. Your computer's system file were not changed.

    Details:

    System Restore failed to extract the file (C:\User's\...\CloudDrive) from the restore point.

    An unexpected error occurred during System Restore. (0x8007018b)

    You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method.



    What's going on here? How can i resolve this issue?

    How to delete inactive System Image Restore Points in System Restore

    Windows 10 64-bit.
    When I click "show more restore points" in System Restore I see a bunch of old "system image restore points" that were deleted in past and do not correspond to any currently active restore points. Clicking any of these old restore points, I simply get an error message saying they could not be found, and to select another restore point instead.I would like to delete these restore points listings but have been unable to do so.
    So far, I have tried steps mentioned below without any luck :

    Disk Cleanup through (CI have trouble using system restore to an earlier point. I get the following error: :) Properties
    Disable System Protection (OFF and ON) in System Protection for OS (CI have trouble using system restore to an earlier point. I get the following error: :)
    Disk Space Usage to minimum (slider button all the way to the left then 'Delete all restore points for this drive'),
    Delete all shown Restore points in CCleaner (the problem ones do not show here),
    Reset Windows Backup to Default in Windows 10 with 'Reset_Windows_Backup.bat' utility.

    Any suggestions highly welcome.

    System Restore & Backup For Windows10

    What I mean is that in Windows7 there is a facility for auto-backup at certain dates (especially when Windows performs an update) from where one can restore the system to an earlier and trouble free state.

    I noticed that there is no such auto system in Windows10.

    Hello,

    As the above steps doesn't work, I suggest you to try the below and check.

    I suggest you to restore the system to the previous point where PC was working normally. To do so kindly follow the below given steps:


    • Press Windows + I key and click on Update and security.

    • Click on Recovery, and click on
      Restart under Advance startup.

    • In the Windows Recovery Environment, on the Choose an option screen, click
      'Troubleshoot'.

    • Click, Advanced Options and then click on
      System Restore.

    • Follow the onscreen suggestion to restore your PC to earlier point.
