Windows 10: I have Win 10 and my install of the update is stuck at 20%

Hello I always have a problem with my win 10 second tuesdays of the month updates. I dont have SSD mine is the disk type so i know it takes a little while longer but its been hours from my laptop checking for updates then it takes a while to download both then it takes to long time to install before i get the restart now. So what should i do? I have learned my lesson not to restart when a update is trying to install then i get BSOD then it takes so long to get help on the phone to do a install in place. its still at 20% and wont go up. I have win 10 21h1 build 19043.1806.can u explain in easy

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

• Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
• For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
• When was the computer last updated?
• Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
provided below:

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

win 10 creator update stuck at 20 %

i am having win 10 ver 14393 and trying to upgrade to ver 15063 using mediacreation tool and window upgrader but its got stuck to 20% since last 4-5 day.

i didnot have any AV. i have turned off window defender also but its still stuck

any solution to upgrade my win ver

1. Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
   

1. Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
   

Let us try few troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps:



Method 1: Windows Update Troubleshooter



I would suggest you to try running Windows update troubleshooter on the computer and see if that helps. Refer the article on Windows Update Troubleshooter.



Method 2: Reset Windows Update components



You can also try resetting Windows update component and see if that helps. Refer the article How to:Reset Windows update components in Windows.



If the issue persists, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article Troubleshoot problems updating Windows 10 and see if that helps.



Note: The last step in the article talks about performing a clean installation of Windows. Please do not perform a clean installation.



Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.
