Windows 10: i I have windows 7 on my laptop and would like to upgrade it. how do I do this?

i am not familiar with windows update. i havebeen living rural for last ten years. my laptop runs wind 7 and i need to update as much as I can because I am looking for remote work. any help is good.

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, laptop ceased functioning.

• Was the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 successful?
• Kindly explain further what happens when you turn on your Windows laptop.
• Are you getting any error messages? If you do, kindly post it here for a more accurate troubleshooting suggestion.

Can't upgrade laptop to Windows 10

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried Windows Defender and discovered it was not turned on and when I tried to turn it on it would quickly turn itself off again. I used another anti-virus program to check out the laptop but it found no problem. Obviously this laptop has some problems.

My next step is to put the original drive back into the machine and try the Windows 10 upgrade from that and if that also fails do a restore of this laptop to the original Windows 7.
