I play games like valorant on my 4gb acer aspire 3, it lagged in few situation earlier. I thought upgrading ram would fix it, so I installed 4 additional Gb of ram. After that when I play anygame I am getting same amount of FPS with not much improvement. When I checked from task manager, it showed me that I had 6 gb of useable ram and 3gb of shared gpu memory. When I checked from dxdiag my Vram which was 2 gb earlier increased to 4gb after ram upgradation. If I reduce my shared memory and free more ram will it improve performance of games? if yes then how? I am not a tech person but need your

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

We don't work for MS. We're normal users like you.

I'd suggest two options:

• Uninstall unnecessary RAM-eating apps which you don't use.
  
• Increase the memory to at least 8GB by adding a RAM stick of 4GB but which is compatible with your device.
  

4GB is the minimum req., so you may need high amount of RAM.

 

Compare performance between 12gb ram (8gb + 4gb) and 8gb ram (4gb x 2)

The more RAM you have the bester your PC will perform, so, 12GB of RAM will be better than 8GB of RAM, so 4GB + 8GB will be better than 4GB + 4GB for performance.
