I have an external SSD drive, also Crucial Crucial X6 1TB Portable SSD, and also a regular 64GB thumb drive avaliable if needed. I donloaded and passed into the Crucial external hard drive the installation files for the Windows 11 OS, but for whatever reason, it does not recognize it. I'm starting to think that I'm headed completely wrong direction with this. So, I know it recognizes the device because whenever I switched from UEFI to CSM on the MSI Click BIOS 5 and went to the BootOptions, it showed up. Despite this, whenever I try to boot from the external SSD drive, the following error me

upgraded my laptop to a new crucial 500gb NVMe m.2 ssd

reply did all internal drives last 2 are just my hard drive docking station drives rarely used i just happen to have them on today.

It is compatible. The Samsung Pro is the best but also the most expensive. As it is a PCIe 4.0 and your MB has PCIe 3.0 you won't achieve the speeds on the specs. You may find a PCIe 3.0 at lower price. I suggest the Crucial. Crucial P3 1TB PCIe 3.0 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 3500MB/s Seagate BarraCuda Q5 M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D QLC - Up to 2400 MBps If you already have a 2.5" SATA SSD you will only see the difference to a faster M.2 NVMe on the benchmark test. But if you still have a HDD the difference is huge.
