I just theoretically moved my Documents folder from C: to D: drive, but it still appears is...

I just transferred my Documents folder from the System drive C: to my second drive D:.The computer showed that all of the contents of the folder were moved I watched the process, and the folder now exists in D: The problem is that it was NOT erased from C: and the reason that I wanted to move it was to free up space on that disk. Can I now erase the folder on C: without causing serious problems?

    :)

  2. I mistakenly made my D: drive as document folder.

I was planning to move my documents folder from C:\Users\Inspiron Laptop\Documents to D:\Documents. But instead I made the whole drive D: as documents folder. After this I tried restoring default location of the documents folder via properties to undo my
mistake but a pop-up appears saying

"The folder cant be moved here. Failed to build the list of regular subdirectories under 'D:\System Volume Information'. Access denied"

    Please help me. Thank you!

  3. How to Move Files (not Apps) from C to D?

I’m asking this common question because of the many different explanations on how to move data files (not apps) from C to D. Some instruct use Windows Explorer, right click Folder > Properties > Move Location; others suggest drag and drop, or copy and paste from C to D. Some say to use command scripts or registry changes, or Partitions. What is the safest way?

    • Do I also need to make any changes to my Shell Folders and/or User Shell Folders too?
    • Finally, for the Folder Change Location method, some instruct to move location to D:\Documents, for example. Why wouldn’t the path be D:\users\NAME\Documents?
    Many Thanks! Michael

Can't move Documents folder from C\users\username\Documents to any place in D drive. No location tab in the properties window.

    Hello,
I wanted to move my documents folder to D drive as my C drive was filling up.
I see Documents folder at 2 places --

    1)in C:\users\username\Documents
    2) in the space above the drives in the This PC window in windows explorer, also in quick access in the left menu in windows explorer
I changed the location in the location tabs of the 2nd Document folder that i described above(ie the quick access or inside 'This PC') and the location says D drive

But if i go inside C drive to C:\users\username\Documents and right click and click on properties , the location it shows is C:\users\username\Documents , and there is no location tab in that properties window.

I want to move this C drive document folder to D drive . Please let me know.
    Thank you.
