Windows 10: I Just updated my older Dell laptop. My PIN no longer works.

I have previously ran updates successfully and moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11. The update that I ran today was for newer functionality which I did not care about. I tried to reset the PIN and the email that is displayed is for a company that is out of business. I can't even get into Windows to do anything.This laptop shipped directly to my home, I set it up, used it, left the company with their permission to keep it, and the company is out of my business.Help!

If your PIN is not working after an update, it could be that you may need to recreate your PIN, or that an application is blocking you from signing in using your PIN, etc. For us to isolate the issue in signing in using your PIN, kindly respond to the questions
below:

• When attempting to sign in using your PIN, are there any error messages? If there are, what is the exact error message that you get?
• Which update was installed on your device recently?
• Aside from resetting the PIN, what other troubleshooting steps have you done so far? This is for us to know and to avoid any duplication of efforts on your end.

New laptop and older external hard drive

The laptop doesn't easily "see" the drive.. when I am in Devices and Printers... the icon for the ext HD will appear for just a few seconds.. if I rightclick on it quickly, it'll show the popup for hardware but doesn't have the info for it... does correctly
refer to it as "USB 2.0 CD + HDD".

I tried your list of steps, but , the HD does NOT ever show in the Disk Management list.

I do have an older Dell that I need to see if it will recognize the HD. I'll try that next.

No longer able to use PIN on laptop

Hi.

I am able to use my PIN on my tablet and my phone. However, I can no longer use my PIN when signing in on my laptop. It has been many months since I was last able to use it on my laptop. When I select the PIN option now on my laptop, it says I am unable
to log in this way due to your setup settings. I am unsure what steps to be able to use my PIN again on my laptop. I really, really do not want to use a new PIN if at all possible
