    Random Notification Sound

I've been getting this random notification sound from yesterday. Did some research found out it was due to some devices but in my case it is not. Someone told me to mute windows notifications, I did
but still, get to hear this sound in my headset or speakers in different time intervals.

Any suggestion or help is appreciated.

  3. I keep getting a notification sound at seemingly random intervals on Windows 10

Since yesterday, I've been having an intermittent sound that sounds like a notification on Windows 10. The timing of it doesn't seem to have any kind of strict pattern, but I've noticed that quite a few will play in quick succession and then there won't
be any for around 10 minutes or so. It's definitely not occuring at fixed intervals though.

I don't know where the sound is coming from and I don't know what it is. I've closed all open windows and the sound has still played. It sounds like a notification sound, but it isn't the Windows 10 notification noise or the USB connect/disconnect noise.
It's only two notes and it's much briefer. I turned off notifications for all programs in settings and it continued to play. I didn't install anything or download any files anywhere near the time it started yesterday, so I can't think what it is. I also installed
an update after the sound started playing last night, but it continued to play this morning, so the update hasn't had any effect.

I've used Process Monitor to try and find it by filtering .wav files, but nothing came up despite the noise sounding numerous times so I can only assume it's a different file type. I've also done a virus scan and found nothing.

(I'm sorry if this is in the wrong category, I couldn't think where it would fit).

    Random Notification Sound

Hi Gold. I'm Greg, an Independent Advisor here to help until this is resolved.

See possible fixes for random notification sounds here:

    https://www.guidingtech.com/find-fix-windows-10...

The random notification sound can have several causes. In this thread it was discovered to be a USB hub:

    https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/28087...

In this thread after many suggestions (one of which might work) the OP found the problem by running Process Monitor, filtering it for .wav (sound) files:

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/70151...

More about running Process Monitor here:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007...

    Other possible causes:

    https://superuser.com/questions/1216325/random-...

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

One of the solutions given in the threads above should find and fix it.

I hope this helps. Based on the results you report back I may have other suggestions if necessary. If you will wait to choose whether the problem is resolved, then I will continue to help until the problem is fixed.
