Windows 10: I keep getting a sign in option to change my pin when I go to sign inn. says my pin cant...

I keep getting a sign in option to change my pin when I go to sign inn. It just says that my pin cant be found & to change it . not able to get into laptop at all! So cant access to really do any trouble shooting. Been trying to correct this for weeks. I've tried every suggestion I've seen. I have an HP laptop running windows 10. One thing I noticed was most people were able to get into there pc to do alot of the steps suggested. keeps looping back to sign in screen, thats says my pin is unavailable to create another one and the same thing over and over. Add PIN or Change PIN in Sign in Options

I have already set a PIN for my Local Account and my "Sign in Options" in Settings looks like this showing "Add" under PIN:





Various sites I have visited indicate that as I have already set a PIN I should have the option to "Change" or "I forgot my PIN". like this:





Can someone explain why there is a difference please?

 

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

That looks like it. Originally my Local Account password and PIN were the same. I have now entered a new password and set up a PIN. When I log in, the log in box has PIN inside it. My Sign-In option now looks like this:





Presumably, if I removed my PIN, using the option, I would then have to log in using my password. Is that correct please?
