Windows 10: I keep getting Outlook & you have unread messages in start menu.

I keep getting Outlook & you have unread messages in start menu and can't remove it even though it's in my taskbar; and why do I get invitation to try MS 365 for free when I already purchased MS 365 Office?

Unread Messages in Outlook

When I open my Office Outlook all of my messages show as already read. It only started this about a month ago. I have changed the settings numerous times just as the instructions say, but it just goes right back to showing all messages read. I want
my unread messages to show as unread until I read them. What else can I change?

 

Start menu unreadable

anyone know how to make the Start Menu - All apps Text, readable?

I have tried all colours highlight and background, Sometimes the text is white but changes as you scroll down the list and seems to get darker and darker until its black, then next time you open the list it is grey again and unreadable on any background.

I would like to change the text colour to White and make it stay white. but can't see a way of doing it.

 

Discovered Bug in Windows 10 Mail App - Phantom Unread Messages Icon in Taskbar & Start Menu

I've discovered whats causing the phantom unread messages icon to show unread emails in the taskbar and start menu.

Steps to reproduce:

1. New unread emails sitting in the Inbox (or any folder).

2. Click on the unread email, then quickly right-click.

3. Before the app recognizes the email as being opened and read, click "Delete".

4. Close down mail app. "Unread mail" icon numbers in task bar will flash, disappear, then immediately reappear.

5. Phantom Unread mail numbers will remain in the mail icon (and mail app tile in the start menu) , even when new emails come in, they will not be updated or accurate.

The only way to get rid of it is to uninstall the whole mail and calendar app with the PowerShell, then reboot the computer, and reinstall for the Windows Store. All which is a pain in the a...
