I keep getting the message "Make Sure Onedrive-365Education is running on your PC, and try again" when I try to download a cloud-based file in my local "Onedrive - 365Education" folder. It used to be synced with the online version. But it IS running. When I hover over the icon in the notification area, it just vanishes. Also in any office app the "Copy Local Path" is shaded. It never used to do this. It's like the local download folder of "Onedrive - 365Education" has become unlinked to the online version. When I upload a Word file that is stored locally and not just in the cloud it allows me

The reason why I wanted to do a reset or re-install is to indeed get OneDrive in that list. Currently it isn't.

 

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

Thanks for your elaborate reply. I tried the suggestions in the other thread.
Also with sfc /scannow and
Win-R "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\20.028.0206.0006\OneDriveSetup.exe" /allusers

The last one started setup, but it closed after a few seconds. OneDrive was running, but after reboot, it wasn't running anymore.

For one reason or the other the option "Start OneDrive automatically when I sign in to Windows" in OneDrive > Settings was unchecked. For sure I did not do that. No reason to do that.

Also, over the last two days, my password manager needed to be launched manually, whereas it is always running in the background after PC boot. Similar to OneDrive it disappeared from the Task Manager > Startup list.

Only solution was to re-install it.

All above aside.
In my case, the solutions were relatively simple.
But frankly speaking, I really wonder how less experienced users who are neither visiting forums, nor being familiar with registry settings, Win-R matters, etc. would solve such issues...
