Windows 10: I knew starting Cortana was a massive mistake and now my microphone is broken

Let me be crystal clear here. Cortana can hear me, even if I speak very softly. Even if I whisper. Every other application on my computer including Skype and Zoom is basically non-functional now because the sound level is extremely low and nothing I do fixes it. I've done everything from trying different microphones to completely deleting and reinstalling drivers.

Any ideas on how to fix the 10,882,001th working feature that Microsoft has broken on my computers?


I tried to delete the Cortana virus and of course, obviously, predictably, ROFLOL.

Cortana Microphone headset problems.

Thank you for using Windows 10.

I understand your concern. I suggest you to follow the steps:

• Open settings by clicking thee windows icon the click settings.
• Search Sound in the top right corner and click it.
• Then right click the one device you want to use, then click default communication device.
• Then try Cortana.

As you've already set up microphone but I would suggest you to check again by typing microphone set up and go through that, it should set everything up for you.

start menu and cortana is broken after the latest update

so my computer updated yesterday and when I launched it today and reached desktop Cortana wouldn't respond and when I click on the start menu button it opens both the start and Cortana's menu I don't what the problem is and I've tried these things so far

• restarting my computer
• checking if the speakers and microphone are working (for Cortana)

Broken Microphone

My ibuypower laptop has a broken internal microphone, does anyone know where I can get another one?

It's basically a re-branded Compal IFL90.
