I locked my Desktop by mistake through my Microsoft account on my laptop and now I can't unlock it anymore, how do I unlock it?

Locked myself out of my desktop

   • You mentioned that you have a laptop as well. If you're signed in as an administrator on that laptop, you can use it to remotely unlock your desktop.
     
2. Connect to the Internet:
   
   • Make sure both your locked desktop and the laptop you're using to unlock it are connected to the internet.
     
3. Microsoft Account:
   
   • On your laptop, go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with the same Microsoft account that you used on the locked desktop.
     
4. Find My Device:
   
   • Navigate to the "Find My Device" section, similar to what you did to lock the device.
     
5. Unlock Your Desktop:
   
   • From the "Find My Device" settings, you should see your locked desktop listed.
     
   • There should be an option to unlock the device. Follow the instructions to unlock it.
     
6. Reboot the Desktop:
   
   • After unlocking the desktop from the Microsoft account settings, reboot the desktop and try signing in.
     
7. Re-Register the Desktop:

To correct the issue, we suggest you to perform the steps below:

• Press Windows log key + S.
• Type User Accounts and click on it from the result.
• Click on Manage Another Account.
• If your son's account appears there, you can remove it and retain your account.

Locked laptop to my sign-in by mistake

If I understand you correctly you need to enter the password at login time. There might be a chance that you have converted your local account to Microsoft account, due to which you need the password at login time. If you are willing to remove the
password from the login screen and using Microsoft account for logging to the system then it will be hard to remove the password. However, if you are using local account then you may disable the password at login time.

If you are using Microsoft Account then you may try the steps provided below to switch your account to Local account.

• Press Windows key.
• Type Users in the search box.
• Click on Edit local users and Groups.
• Click on Change your account picture or profile settings.
• Click on your account.
• There you will see the option to switch your account to local account.
• Click on that and then follow the steps provided below to remove password.

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type netplwiz in the run box.
• The user accounts window will open, whereby you can uncheck the box marked "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer", then click
  OK.
