Windows 10: I Lost 100 gb storage space

    Storage Space

    Surface Pro 3 storage space is low. Storage settings say that Apps and Games is using 17.5 GB but when I add up the space from the list of apps it is only 5.7 GB. What is taking up up the other ~12 GB and how do I free up space?

    Storage Lost After Cleaning Free Space

    I couldn't tell if other posts about lost free space applied to my situation.

    Saturday I ran clean free space with the Avast AV tool.
    I usually run CC Cleaner and haven’t had any problems prior.
    I ran Avast to see if it was any quicker.
    I started with 930GB with 89%Free (827GB) and I ended up after the wipe with only 3% free space.
    Admittedly, while this was occurring I had a senior moment and clicked ok when I got a message to manage disk space because it was 90% used. (Or something to that effect).

    In any event, below is the current status and allocation of my computer’s storage space.

    Check of System Storage in Settings:

    System and reserved 43.7 GB

    Apps 21.7 GB

    Music 8.87 GB

    Docs 8.51 GB

    Desk, Mail, Temp, Pics) 785
    MB

    Other

    821 GB ****

    Total Space Used 903.78

    Detail List of Other (821GB):

    Misc. Folders Storage=1GB

    Folder C:/(Files at Drive Root) = 820GB

    Please let me know what the best expedient fix might be.
    Feel free to dumb down your response for someone who barely understands the nomenclature let alone how it works in the first place.

    Lost 2 GB of free space on my phone

    I lost 2 GB of free space on my phone I cant tell what is taking up space and I can't access email any more, because it says I don't have enough storage.

    I did down load anything I had 3.1 GB of free space last night and now 2 GB are eaten up.
