Windows 10: I lost my access to admin account on my windows fell laptop

Just before it happened everything was fine the next day my laptop said when I tried to log in that device is offline, I’ve tried many things it didn’t work, luckily I have another local account that I can access but nothing with admin rights as it says my password is incorrect which it is as I can sign it to my Microsoft account through my phone, I’ve changed it many times and still has the same issue, even on safe mode it says it’s incorrect, I tried factory resetting my laptop but it says it ran into an issue so I don’t know what to do, I have no access to admin rights at all.

Lost admin access

Thank you for posting in Community. I understand your concern, we in Community will try to help you in the best possible way we can.

I would suggest that you perform the step mentioned below and check if the issue persist:

Method 1: Change the account to admin.

• 
  Click on the Start Menu,
  locate and click on “Settings” which is located on the left menu pane.
  
• 
  Then click on “Accounts”, locate
  “Family and other Users” located on the left menu pane.
  
• 
  On the navigation window, you will be able to view all the accounts that have been created in your computer. Click on the account that you choose to switch to administrator account.
  
• 
  You will find the option to “Change Account Type”, click on it. Then you will find a drop down list where you can change the user account to admin. Make the changes to your liking and restart computer.

Accidently lost Admin account


Hello and welcome to TenForums!

If you can, use system restore to revert back to a previous point when things were working. and then you can try again to avoid entering the password by using the following tutorial. Due to the fact that you seem to have lost Admin rights you may find this difficult to do unless you can boot from a recovery disk and access the advanced startup options.

If you really did want to remove a password from your account you can do this (but I suggest you are more secure with a password):
