Windows 10: I lost my D disk SSD

My laptop uses SSD 512GB, after I updated Windows 11 Insider Program, the D disk was lost, and my C disk default disk is now 195GB. I tried the way:1. Re-scan disk2. Change letter3. Restore point: my laptop doesn't have a previous point to restore maybe I didn't save or something...I hope you guys can solve it. Thank you!

migrating user and programdata from a dynamic D disk to a simple volume ssd

Hi,

My windows7 machine was years back set up with a folderlocations.xml file.

As a result the users and ProgramData folders are on the D disk.

and I understand now that I should have read the manual back then about not using this setup in a working enviroment.

I do have a ProgramData folder on C: with a few programs in there, the Users folder on C: only containes a Public folder with Recorder TV folder, no content, so if for some reason the D disk is lost, it failes to find a user profile.

The D disk is for unknown reasons a dynamic disk with 1 partition.

This disk is getting unreliable.

I would like to exchange that D disk for an new ssd (same size), preferrably with a simple volume.

If that is not possible, is it possible to safely move the content of the user and programdata folder to the C disk, so i can just remove the D disk?

Thank you for your continued response.

Please perform the steps mentioned below to run Diskpart. Please note that following steps will erase all the data on the SSD including partitions and boot sector.

1. Open Command Prompt, Click on Start - Run - Type cmd and hit Enter.

2. Type diskpart, and then press ENTER to open the diskpart tool.

3. Type list disk, and then press ENTER. A list of available hard disks is displayed.

4. Type sel disk #number, and then press ENTER. Number is the number of the hard disk that you want to clean. The hard disk is now selected.

5. Type det disk, and then press ENTER. A list of partitions on the hard disk is displayed. Use this information to verify that the correct disk is selected.

6. Make sure that the disk does not contain required data, type clean all, and then press ENTER to clean the disk. All the partitions and all the data on the disk is permanently removed.

7. Type exit, and then press ENTER to close
