I lost my microsoft account and my drive locked by bitlocker but i have only Key ID and could not unlock bitlocker please help me.Now I am using new microsoft account named *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Drive has been locked with Bitlocker after Windows Reset (Bit Locker / Microsoft account has not configured)

Dear Microsoft,

1. I have Pre-Installed Windows 10 Home Edition in Dell Laptop.
2. Due to some performance issue, I have done Windows Reset which done successfully & work fine.
3. After that, 1 Drive(F Drive) has been lock out of 3 Drive (C Drive – D Drive -E Drive).
   
4. By clicking it shows Bit Locker activated & asking for Key to unlock.

I heard first time for Bitlocker after getting pop message.

Please note below remarks;

1. I am the 1st user of this laptop provided by my organisation.
2. I have not created any of Microsoft account & linked with this laptop.
3. I have not activate Bit Locker during period of usage (since 1st day of use to till reset of Windows).
   
4. I am using two email : one is of office365 official id & second is gmail personal id.
5. I have logged in login.live.com by gmail id but not found any devices details.
6. I have tried to logged in by office365 id, but not having such id in
   login.live.com

Requested to kindly suggest the needful steps to unlock the drive / retrieve data of locked drive.

Is there a way to unlock HDD Drive that's locked by Bitlocker without key?

Hello, after updating my laptop from Windows 10 to Windows 11 HDD drive (D is locked by Bitlocker.
Previously i didn't had Microsoft account, i used only my gmail account. I didn't use Bitlocker at all.

While updating to windows 11 i formatted only the C: drive, where Windows 10 was installed.
I created new mail and Microsoft account at the first start of Windows 11. After finishing the setup I saw that D drive is Locked, and to unlock it i need to have 48 digit key, that i don't have.
I didn't save any file anywhere, i didn't prepared no usb key, i didn't knew this bitlocker thing was active in my laptop at all.

Now when I access my new Microsoft account i see key for Bitlocker only for Drive C. (that helped me to disable bitlocker for Drive C).
Drive D is not in the list.

I tried to access this key check page with my gmail account, and I couldn't login (because it's not a microsoft account).
Also i checked cmd commands to see full Key ID that Bitlocker requires but it's not password to unlock.
I tried to disable SecurityBoot to see if this will show password, but still only the Key ID is shown.

After updating Windows i had to update BIOS too.

Now in BIOS i can see and save TPM keys, but none of them have same Key ID as bitlocker requires (this may be due to newer version of bios). Currently windows not allows me to roll back to previous BIOS version, because it's not supported.

I'm not even sure if TPM keys would help at all, to be honest.

As a final detail, i would add that the reason why i updated Windows to 11 and BIOS, is because latest windows update caused my graphic card to drop it's frequency for no reason at all. Temperature was 65 to 69 degrees max.
This caused games and video files to "stutter" or lag noticeably and no graphic card driver reinstall helped. I'm fixing this update aftermath for a week now, and after D: drive lock, I'm not able to work. I need data from that drive, formatting it is not an option for me.

Is there a way to request the key by only having Key ID?
How can i unlock my HDD?

Please help.

 

Recorded BitLocker Key / Swapped Drive / Permanently lost BitLocker Key?

The gist: Lenovo support recommended a drive swap (from corporate computer with broken screen to temporary one). Initially, the BitLocker key worked and now it fails. IT told me it cannot be salvaged.

Computers: Corporate Windows Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen2's and we use "Intune."

Steps:

1. I'm instructed by IT & Lenovo to send my computer in for repairs seemingly unrelated to the hard drive (monitor completely black with power on). Lenovo warns "ANY" repair can destroy all data and recommends a drive swap. Confirm with 3 Lenovo representatives this is okay for relative novice.
   
2. Record BitLocker key and perform the swap.
   
3. Restart temp computer, input key on blue screen and everything's good but Microsoft Teams.
   
4. Repeat step 3.
   
5. Restart temp computer, input key on blue screen and Teams works.
   
6. Restart temp computer and BitLocker no longer accepts the key.
   
7. Lenovo sends back fixed computer. Install original SSD. Screen is fixed, but BitLocker no longer accepts the key.
   
8. My Account shows two devices -- with the same name -- associated to me. The "Inactive" one has my recorded key. The "Active" one says, "No BitLocker recovery key found for this device."
   
9. IT says BitLocker keys should rotate when doing what I did. Initially, they failed to rotate -- the reason why steps 3 - 5 "worked." Then, the rotation happened -- step 6 -- but the new BitLocker key wasn't saved anywhere. I am currently assuming they would have checked something like the Azure Active Directory.
   
10. Part of me doesn't believe the BitLocker key couldn't have been saved anywhere. I know what I did isn't typical for an employee, but still there have to be a lot of drive swaps in the world -- saving BitLocker keys can't be this fragile.
    

I know this is long and appreciate any assistance. Have a good year in any event.
