I may have restored an old Win 7 registry to a new Win 10 by accident.

I copied registry backups from my old Win 7 PC to an external SSD. I then connected the SSD to my new Win 10 laptop and tried backing the laptop registry to the SSD. I selected the location for the new backup, but I'm not seeing the file on the SSD. I was half asleep and I'm wondering if I restored instead of backed up.

If I copied a Win 7 registry to a Win 10 machine, would it break it immediately or upon reboot? I'm afraid to reboot right now. If I run backup registry now, I might be backing up the Win 7 registry.

I'm new to the Win 10 UI. How do I backup the registry? Version 10.0.19041.423 Build 19041

    Many thanks.

    :)

  2. Wins 7 & Wins 10 upgrade & registry......

From what I see, the Windows 10 Update will be a completely new OS. So I am assuming that I will have a completely new registry as well. Am I correct??? As I have mentioned, my Wins 7 registry is corrupt and I just want to be sure before updating to Wins
10..... Can I get either a yes or no concerning this issue??

Win 7 and Win 10 on network

I have home network with separate modem, router, and WAP's. My Windows 7 computer does NOT list the Windows 10 computers on network computer list but the Windows 10 computers network list DO list the Windows 7 computer.

Turned off firewalls, gave permissions, shared drives. Nothing allows Win 7 computer to access the Win 10 computers.

    Any suggestions for a fix?

Using Old Win 7 license to Upgrade to Win 10

I have a PC that came with Win 7 and I upgraded it to Win 10 when the upgrade was free.

I now have a new PC that shipped with Win 10. On the new PC I will be installing Vmware so I have a virtual machine. How can I use the Win 7 license from the old PC (and then upgrade it to Win 10) to install it on the new PC virtual PC?

If needed I can uninstall Windows from the old PC.
