Windows 10: I messed up my headset settings and now the microphone doesn't work and the audio is a lot...

For context, this started because I was trying to work out how to listen to audio with two separate headsets and managed to succeed. However, when I tried to reverse what I had done after the fuss with the two headsets, my microphone became very quiet when I called on Discord and I couldn't manage to figure out how to get it back to normal volume again. I've looked at many many sources online over the past 2 days and since then, after following guide after guide, there is no microphone showing up when I plug in my headset, and the audio when I'm listening to music is quieter and I can hear w

Windows Update messed with audio input devices (microphones)

I updated my laptop yesterday, and today, I noticed that none of my audio input devices were functioning correctly. At first, I thought the problem was with my headset microphone, but even the preinstalled microphone array was not working.



While troubleshooting, I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and updating drivers, and I even played with privacy and microphone access settings. I also restarted my laptop a dozen times, but none of these steps helped.



To make things worse, the option to roll back from the Windows update "is no longer available on this PC," according to the settings app.



I plugged and unplugged my headset several times. Plus, I am aware that my headset has a mute button and that my laptop came with a microphone mute/unmute button, but I don't think that is the cause of the problem, as the preinstalled array itself does not detect any audio. Can you help me resolve this issue?

Edit: I additionally tried:

• Using the troubleshooter.
  
• Messing with the 'default device' settings.
  
• Turning off the audio enhancements.
  
• Restarting the Windows Audio service in Services.

My microphone and ear-phone doesn`t work. Please help me, I have windows 7 home basic, my computer reproduces a sound, but devices no.

 

Microphone Won't Work When Audio is plugged in with headset Windows 10

Hello,

I currently have a Logitech G230 headset. I used it with a gaming desktop and had no issue. Upon getting a gaming laptop, I plugged in my headset into the provided audio and microphone jack and I could hear fine but not use the microphone. When I unplug
the audio jack, the microphone on the headset works and I can use it just fine. Yet, as soon as both the audio jack and microphone jack are plugged into the computer, the mic does not work, and messing with the settings appears not to work, or I am messing
with the wrong settings. Please help, as I know it is not a software issue, as the headset would not work at all.
