Hello. I about over a year ago I was searching for ways to make windows faster, and I ran into an optimizer and decided to run it not knowing it was going to mess with my PC in ways that would affect me later down the road. One thing I did do though is make a backup file. Now I'm wondering if it would hurt my computer more to go to that old of registry or just a clean install would do better for me.

I’ve done all off the above options and none of them work not even reset system.

They all fail because the registry is messed up. DISM fails with error 23 SFC scan now finds nothing wrong and bootrec /rebuildmbr doesn’t work because it’s not able to set the boot record because the registry is messed up.

If the system can’t interact with the registry files and Microsoft stupidly disabled registry backup, none of the recovery tools work because… even recovery points require… you guessed it, registry access.

How about you try renaming your registry files in safe mode to .old then reboot and then try to run any of the steps you suggested and watch how they all fail because they all rely on the registry files being accessible.

 

Are my Registry Files all legitimate programs?

Isn't there a web tool whereby I can check if programs listed in my REGISTRY FILES are legitimate programs?

 

Registry Backup - Question

Registry Backup

I am reading a book, Windows 10 Anniversary Update. It makes these two statements.

• File History also keeps a copy of your Registry.
• Every time you start your computer, it makes a backup copy of that Registry.

Where and how do I find these copies?
