  1. I Need A Way To Hide All Files Of A Certain Extension

As the title says, i'm looking for a way in Windows 10 (or with a piece of 3rd party software) that will allow me to select a specific file extension and have the system hide all files with that extension so they don't show up in folders, file explorer, etc.

  2. How can I hide all files of a certain extension?

    Hi Supersoundzzz,

My name is Fernando. I am an Independent Advisor. I am here to guide you with hiding files of prticular extension.

There is no automatic way of hiding files with a certain extension unless they are system files. With that said, I can suggest creating a hidden folder then save your files to that particular folder.

The other option would be to create a batch file that can be set on task manager to run at a given interval.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes.

    Respectfully,

    Fernando Y.

  3. How can I hide all files of a certain extension?

Thanks for your quick reply, Fernando!

Maybe there's a program that could solve this program. I have FileTypesMan, but it doesn't have the option of hiding files of a certain extension.

  4. I Need A Way To Hide All Files Of A Certain Extension

How can I hide all the files with a certain extension?

I'm not talking about a batch solution (attrib +h) which doesn't work at all.

-> It might not meet your specific requirements but it does hide files.

On older versions of Windows you could easily choose which file types you wanted to stay hidden. No advanced tricks were needed there: you just easily did it on the properties of Explorer.

-> I have been using DOS & Windows for as long as you have and I am not aware of Explorer ever giving you a function that would let you hide certain file types. Doing this would require a catalog of extensions to be
maintained. I have never heard of such a catalog. And yes, as you say, Windows 7 or 10 does not have this functionality either. You would need to use a different shell than Windows Explorer.

You could, of course, let a background task do the job for you. Creating a scheduled task with the following properties would do the trick:

    • Runs under the System account.
    • Is invoked once every 10 minutes
    • Executes attrib.exe +h /s "C:\{Folder Name}\*.pk"
