Windows 10: i need hel with my windows 11 laptop

    Schiit Hel usb DAC not recognized

    I'm experiencing this now too. I'm powering mine with an Anker desktop charger though with an Anker cable.

    I have read that the Hel has issues with resolving USB 3.0+ ports. I am using a pricey wireworld usb 3.1 c to c cable with a 3.1 port on my laptop. perhaps I need to ditch that and find a pricey USB 2.0 cable....LOL

    I follow all these same steps to get through all the same issues. Today I am making one change. I usually power the Hel off via the switch but then I turn off the power strip that the Hel and my 2 amps are plugged into. I am moving the power for the Hel to an always on power supply. Turning off and on via the switch, but not disconnecting the power to the Hel. Perhaps this will work.

    I am also adding a powered dock with the hopes that the powered port will register all the time, specifically at startup. I'll plug the Hel into that and see if I can get something to happen there. I will definitely update the thread. Reddit has a **** ton of these posts... Which begs the question if people actually do read it.

    I have been having similar issues in Windows 11 with my Hel 2, and while it's not pretty the following has worked for me:

    1. Unplug the USB from the computer and flip the DAC power off
    2. Power the DAC back on and wait a minute
    3. Plug the USB back in

    When that fails (and it does sometimes with symptoms of popping/crackling sounds and audio skipping) SHUT DOWN Windows, don't restart do a full power off, power off the DAC, boot Windows back up then power on the DAC. Really irritating, I am certain it's not an issue with the DAC as it works flawlessly on the same computer/USB port in Ubuntu and it only started happening recently after some update.
