Windows 10: I need help changing back my Windows 10 Pro for Workstation key back to Windows 10 Home...

I wanted to change my Windows 10 Pro Workstation key back to Windows 10 Home Edition Digital License how do I change back from Pro Workstation to Windows 10 Home Editio?

Installing Windows 10...and then reverting back. Help!

Well currently all of these PC's are activated with Windows 7. So when I throw 10 on it shows activated when I boot in and check the status of the machine. So right now, I have an image of one of the machines after 10 was installed and confirmed activated, that I then throw on the other PC's. No problems. (as far as I know)

But, do I need to be doing this? Or could I just wait until lets say a year from now and do it then? I ask because it's obviously a lot more time to image, go back to Windows 7 and then at some point later on down the road, go back to 10. Would I be safe to leave them at 7 now and then try to throw 10 on those PC's in let's say a year or something?

 

Back to Windows 10 for me!

The laptop I just put Windows 10 on:
a) had GWX
b) never installed Windows 10 before deadline
c) had legitimate Windows 7 system builder license
d) never did Windows 7 -> Windows 10 in-place upgrade

When I installed Windows 10:
a) I had the network cable plugged in from the start
b) when prompted for a key, I entered the Windows 7 key
c) when I got into Windows and looked at System, it was kind of glitching out ("Windows is not activiated" but the only button there was the admin logo to change key. I clicked on that admin logo and it popped up the dialog to reenter the key. I thought "oh shit" but then noticed in the background it updated the System dialog and said "Windows is activated." I canceled out of the change key dialog and it's activated.

From this, I gather that the July 29 cut off was more about people still buying Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 having the upgrade option to Windows 10 (kind of like how they were selling XP Pro with Vista upgrade). It was less about people that have older systems because GWX's purpose in life was to get the hardware profile to Microsoft.

 

Should I buy Windows 10 Home or Pro?

I bought a win 10 pro oem key for £25, changed my motherboard and cpu, and reinstalled windows, and it activated automatically. So I would say why not buy pro?

Was near enough instant delivery of key by email, and it activated on my original install, and on a clean install with changed hardware. Can't say fairer than that for £25
